Jersey City to settle crash lawsuit against hero police officer for $1.5 million

Jersey City will pay $1.5 million to settle a lawsuit involving one of the heroes in a 2019 mass shooting, a sergeant who was promoted to lieutenant a year after a crash left two city residents with serious injuries.
The settlement of the lawsuit against the city and Lt. Marjorie Jordan, who risked her life pulling a wounded officer to safety during the Dec. 10, 2019 shootout on Martin Luther King Drive, ends four years of contentious litigation that included claims from the victims’ attorney that the city used “despicable tactics” and attempted “to skirt responsibility.”
